A straight comparison for Class 10 parents
Tuition, coaching and mentorship all have a place, and they solve different problems. Most families we speak to already have one or two of them and are considering a third — usually because the first two have not worked. This page is about telling those three apart, including the cases where the honest answer is that you do not need us.
The short answer
Tuition re-teaches a subject the child did not follow in school, usually one-to-one or in a small group. It fixes "I don't understand this chapter."
Coaching teaches the whole syllabus to a batch on a fixed schedule, with tests. It fixes "we need the syllabus covered properly and tested."
Mentorship teaches nothing. It builds the plan, sets daily targets, follows up and keeps parents informed. It fixes "he knows what to do and somehow never does it."
Which is why they are not really alternatives. Mentorship without teaching leaves genuine subject gaps unfixed. Teaching without accountability is the situation most families are already in — attending everything, consolidating nothing.

Read the last row first. If your honest answer to "what is actually going wrong?" is a subject gap, you want tuition. If it is coverage, you want coaching. If it is that the coverage is happening and the studying still is not, that is the row we work on.

It gets sold that way sometimes, and it is not true. If your child has not been taught the syllabus, a mentor cannot fill that hole — the mentor will simply keep setting targets against chapters nobody has explained.
The families who get the most out of this program are the ones already paying for coaching and getting nothing back from it. That is not a coincidence: the coaching was never the failure point. The gap between the class ending and the studying starting was.
Your questions
For a student who is genuinely self-sufficient in the subjects and only lacks discipline, sometimes yes. For most Class 10 students, no — and we would rather say that plainly than sell you a replacement for something that was working. The program is designed to sit alongside coaching, not instead of it.
Average students usually gain the most. A topper already has a system that works; an average student is often equally capable but has no plan, a growing backlog and shrinking confidence — three things mentorship works on directly. Where it does not help is a child with no intention of trying at all.
That is the right question to ask, and for some families the answer is that you should not. But if the coaching fee is already being spent and the child is not revising at home, you are currently getting a fraction of what you paid for. Mentorship costs less than coaching and is aimed squarely at closing that gap. On the counselling call we will tell you honestly if we think it would not.
A home tutor sits with the child and teaches. A mentor never teaches and is rarely in the same room — the work is planning, target-setting, follow-up and motivation. A tutor makes a chapter make sense; a mentor makes sure the child opens the book on a Tuesday evening when nobody is watching.
Whichever matches the real problem. If the child cannot follow the subject, teaching comes first — always. If the child follows it fine and does not sit down, teaching more will not help and accountability will.
